SPRING 2026 3 BOWLER BAKER TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP - RULES All the games bowled in the Passaic County USBC Baker Team Tournament are subject to the current rules of the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) unless waived, amended, and/or listed below. This Tournament is governed and certified by USBC rules. The Tournament Manager reserves all rights to cancel or reschedule the event for any reason he or she deems fit. He or she also reserves the right to re-rate an average or reject any entry. Either must be done prior to the bowler starting his or her first game. ELIGIBILITY – Participation will require PC USBC membership. All 2025 – 2026 USBC sanctioned bowlers are eligible to participate in this event. Non-USBC members may enter, but they are required to purchase a full sanction at the cost of $25. Non-Members of the Passaic County USBC will be required to pay a $10 affiliate fee at time of check-in. You will be required to show your current USBC Sanction Card at time of check-in or proof of being sanctioned. TEAM ELIGIBILITY – The combined total of the three eligible bowlers entering averages may not exceed 645. HANDICAP – The handicap will be 100% of the difference between the team’s combined entering average and 645. During the nine-game qualifying round your team will get that handicap x’s Three (3) as your total handicap for the qualifying round. AVERAGES – Each bowler will determine the average to use in descending order. The first average you qualify for will be the correct entering average for this event. 1. Your 2024-25 Composite USBC Certified Average bowled if 21 or more games. 2. If your Composite USBC Certified Average from 2023-24, was 15 pins, or more, higher for 21 or more games, you will use that average. 3. If any of your current 2025-26 current USBC sanctioned league averages are 15 pins, or more, higher than either of the above two choices as of March 1, 2026, you will use this average. Your League Secretary or Manager must verify this average and submit the proper documentation. 4. If no qualifying average from the first two choices, you will use your current and highest Certified USBC Winter League Average from Passaic County as of March 1, 2026, provided you have a minimum of 21 games bowled. The League Secretary or Manager must verify this average, and a copy must be attached to your entry form or handed in at time of check-in. 5. If no qualifying average from the first three choices, you will use your current and highest Certified USBC Winter League Average from any county as of March 1, 2026, provided you have a minimum of 21 games bowled. The League Secretary or Manager must verify this average, and a copy must be attached to your entry form or handed in at time of check-in. 6. If you do not have a qualifying average from the previous four choices, you will be assigned an average of 215. VERIFICATION OF AVERAGE – We will be using USBC Rule 319a. item 2, the 10 pin or higher rule as outlined above in the AVERAGES section. The Tournament Manager reserves the right to make all average corrections either up or down prior to the final distribution of the prize list. FORMAT – All teams will bowl 9 Baker games during qualifying. Three games will be bowled on your starting pair with the odd number team bowling two games, the first and the third on the left lane and the second game on the right lane. After the third game is bowled, each team will move two pairs. The odd number team will move to the left one pair of lanes (or whatever the lanes usage count dictates as determined by the Tournament Manager) and the even number team will move one pair to the right (or the same number as stated for the left lane move). The odd number team will bowl game four on the right lane and bowl game five on the left lane. Game six will be bowled on the right game. After the sixth game is completed, the teams will once again move in the same direction. Odd number team left one pair and the even numbered team right one pair. The final rotation will have the odd number bowling on the left lane for game seven, the right lane for game eight and finishing the set bowling on the left. The top Four Teams, depending on the entry count, will advance to a bracket style final. The Top Seed of the Tournament may choose which of the lower three seeds they bowl in the first round. The remaining two seeds will be paired against each other. The format for the finals will be determined in the following manner. Should we have 8 to 12 entries, a two-team match-play final shall take place using the best 2 out of 3-game match, as explained below. If we have 13 to 17 entries, a three-team stepladder final will be used. The first round would be a 1-game match and the finals, best 2 of 3. With 18, or more entries, the finals format as listed below will be used. The Prize fund will pay a 1 in 5 ratio based on entries. The first round of the final will be a 1-game match. Each team will receive one third (1/3) of their team’s handicap based on their entering average for the match. Any fraction of this total will be dropped. The higher seed has starting lane choice, then they will alternate starting lanes throughout the match. The Final Match will be the best out of 3 matches. During the match, each team will bowl like they did in qualifying. Each team will bowl the entire game on one lane, then switch after the completion of each game.
